The prize rewards land use and soil management practices mitigating soil threats i.e. soil degradation, erosion, reduction of organic matter content, diffuse contamination, and compaction as well as the reduction of soil biodiversity, salinization, sealing, flooding and landslides. In doing so, the award sheds light on outstanding achievements, encouraging new concepts of land and soil protection and their implementation in land management, as well as enhancing awareness about the importance of land and soil functions, in Europe and extended territories.
Who Can Apply?
The application is open to a diverse range of individuals and groups involved in agriculture. This includes:
- -Farmers: Those who actively cultivate crops or raise livestock.
- -Landowners: Individuals or organizations that own agricultural land, regardless of whether they manage it themselves.
- - Land Managers: Professionals tasked with managing agricultural landscapes or practices sustainably.
- - Groups of Farmers: Collaboratives or associations of farmers working together towards common agricultural goals.
- - Collaborative Partners: Applicants may also include research institutes, universities, and private companies that wish to partner with farmers or land managers.
Eligible candidates should be operating in Europe or its extended territories.
