The Hult Prize Competition

The Hult Prize is a prestigious, year-long global competition that empowers young innovators to tackle some of the world's most critical and urgent problems by developing creative social ventures. Participants will have the opportunity to turn their ideas into realities while competing for a grand prize of US $1,000,000.

Stage 1: Qualifiers

November - February

To initiate their journey in the Hult Prize competition, students must first qualify by participating in local competitions. These local contests are organized through our OnCampus Program, which is available at universities around the world. Alternatively, students can apply directly through the open application process available online. This initial stage encourages teams to start brainstorming and developing their innovative ideas.

Stage 2: Nationals

March - May

Teams that emerge victorious from local competitions or those with outstanding proposals from the open application will progress to the national stage. Here, they will compete in various national events where they present their ventures to local judges. For those unable to compete in person, an equivalent online selection process will be available, ensuring that talent from all over the world has a chance to showcase their work.

Stage 3: Digital Incubator

June - July

The Digital Incubator stage is where selected startups receive specialized guidance to refine and enhance their ideas. During this two-month period, teams will validate their product-market fit through research and feedback, create proof of concepts to demonstrate the feasibility of their solutions, and develop Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) that are ready for initial market testing. Participants will also create actionable go-to-market strategies that include marketing and operational plans. Throughout this process, they will have access to exceptional resources such as online workshops and personalized mentorship from experienced social entrepreneurs and industry experts who provide valuable insights based on real-world experience.

Stage 4: Global Accelerator

August

The top-performing startups will then be invited to the Hult Prize Global Accelerator, held at the historic Ashridge House located just outside of London. This intensive and immersive program is designed to rapidly accelerate business growth. During the Global Accelerator, teams will work closely with experienced mentors who will help them refine their business strategies, expand their professional networks, and scale their impact on a global scale. Participants will engage in interactive workshops focusing on various aspects of entrepreneurship and will have opportunities to pitch their ideas to a panel of experienced investors during demo days, fostering connections that can lead to future support and investment.

Stage 5: Global Finals

September

The journey culminates at the Global Finals, where six exceptional teams will pitch their innovative social ventures to a panel of distinguished judges. This final event is not just a competition; it is a celebration of creativity, perseverance, and passion for social impact. The judges, who include industry leaders, investors, and social impact pioneers, will evaluate the pitches based on the feasibility and potential impact of each venture. The ultimate goal for the participating teams is to be selected as the next winner of the coveted US $1,000,000 Hult Prize, which can help launch their social ventures into successful enterprises.
