The World Food Forum (WFF) is an innovative initiative hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Established in 2021, it acts as a global network of independent partners working collaboratively to create sustainable agrifood systems. Positioned as the leading global platform, the WFF is dedicated to reimagining the future of food and aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By fostering collaboration across diverse sectors, the WFF advances critical pathways that support sustainable agriculture, enhance food security, and drive meaningful transformations on both local and global scales.
Applications are now open for the World Food Forum’s Agrifood Leadership Education Programme for 2025, an initiative designed to empower the next generation of leaders in the agrifood sector.
The World Food Forum (WFF) is dedicated to addressing the complex challenges posed by global agrifood systems through three fundamental pillars: youth action, scientific advancement, and investment. By harnessing the creative potential of youth leadership, advancing scientific research, and developing innovative financing models, the WFF strives to build diverse partnerships across multiple sectors. These collaborations aim to create impactful solutions that contribute to a future where communities around the globe can thrive in a more resilient, equitable, and food-secure environment.
A standout initiative within the WFF's portfolio is the Agrifood Leadership Education Programme, launched in partnership with Real Food Systems (RFS). This comprehensive program seeks to nurture emerging leaders in the agrifood industry by focusing on the development of essential leadership skills and fostering a commitment to community-driven projects. Additionally, the program advocates for systemic change that addresses the root causes of food insecurity and inequity.
Structured to emphasize job readiness and practical engagement, the program is organized into three core components: Explore, Encourage, and Experience. Each component serves as a guide for participants, helping them navigate their educational journey. During the \Explore\ phase, participants engage in in-depth research and discussions about current trends and challenges in the agrifood sector. The \Encourage\ phase focuses on leadership development, equipping participants with the skills to inspire and mobilize their communities effectively. Finally, the \Experience\ phase allows participants to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, engaging in hands-on projects that address local agrifood issues.
As part of this program, young leaders will gain access to valuable mentorship and networking opportunities, connecting with experts and professionals from various sectors, including agriculture, nutrition, environmental science, and policy. This exposure not only broadens their perspectives but also deepens their understanding of the intricate dynamics of global food systems.
The program’s three-part structure ensures a balanced approach to learning, marrying theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Participants will not only become knowledgeable about agrifood challenges but will also develop the necessary competencies to implement effective solutions tailored to their communities. Ultimately, the Agrifood Leadership Education Programme emphasizes the importance of inclusivity, resilience, and sustainable practices, preparing young leaders to drive meaningful transformation in the agrifood landscape for generations to come.
